Volvo Plans Self-Driving Cars in 2014

Volvo has long been regarded as one of the safest car producers around and it continues to do so with its plans of introducing self-driving cars in 2014. The company would then follow it up with a fleet of vehicles that can avoid passenger accidents on their own by the year 2020.
These vehicles are designed to eliminate the major cause of road accidents–the drivers themselves. Like Google, Volvo is convinced that making cars driver-free is the way of the future.
The autonomous driving technology would be based on integrating wireless Internet into the vehicle, enabling the car to be assigned at a certain point on the road, as well as the ability to interact with other vehicles.
The first batch of self-driving cars from Volvo, which are capable of speeds of up to 31 miles an hour, two years from now.
